Fat Loss / Toning

In order to combat fat, one must first understand fat. Fat isn’t just some unsightly mass you can do sit-ups to get rid of. As a matter of fact, if you want to stay fat forever, do nothing but sit-ups. No, fat is very simply and, for our purposes, nothing more than – fuel. Protein and carbohydrates (two of the three main nutrients) only hold 4 calories per gram. Their storage capacity is limited and inappropriate for the body’s purposes of excess energy storage. In every gram of fat, there is roughly 9 calories. For every pound of fat, there are roughly 3,500 calories (Don’t bother with the math, it doesn’t add up. My facts are derived from people much, much smarter than me. This makes sense to them so we’re just gonna go with it.).

Due to this property of fat, fat is the body’s favorite form of storage for extra ingested calories – that’s why eating too much makes us fatter. Now, the plan of attack is simple. That plan is – gain "lean mass" (all body weight that is not fat), move more and eat better. Lean mass gains lead to a greater metabolism and capacity to burn fuel during each workout which is why it is one of our main goals. Moving more (referring to both intensity and volume) will cause more calories, and consequently fat, to be used up and exit from the body. Eating better will fuel your working muscles and retard the replacement of the calories we are working so hard to get rid of in the first place. Want to accelerate the process? Use large muscle groups (not abs/sit-ups), multi joint movements and a moderate to high pace of exercise/work. Don’t know how to do all of this? That’s why we exist. Call us. We can help.

Want to lose more fat and maintain if not gain muscle? Train for full body strength.
